The residential condominium of this duplex project is located in the downtown area of Taichung city, characterized by the slatted organic shapes to pay homage to the greatest architect— Antonio Gaudi. Influenced by concepts of nature, this duplex apartment interior was not only designed around motifs of its architectural contexts, but also considered a care-free and harmonious lifestyle preparing for the resident’s retirement.

Extending the exterior element, the ruled surface forms and slatted structural shapes can be found on pendants and the bookcase centerpiece, cohering to architectural contexts with minimal forms. The high ceiling plan provides sufficient day-lighting into interior spaces. While the sunlight overflows, suffused with alluring shadows through slatted frameworks from exterior to interior spaces, culminating with sublime of nature ambiances.

With backdrops massively paved with white and deep grey natural marbles, the holistic planning controls minimal use of colors. The ground level encompasses multi-functional areas to cater for different sizes of activities for gaining intimacy with people.

A tailor-made free-standing bookcase stands out at the core of the plan, subdividing the living and dining area as a screen. Adapting the language of nature to the structural forms of architecture, the multiple-layered ironwork sprouts up into a new form. The form is at the same time functional and aesthetic: the circuits of audiovisual equipment are integrated and recessed in shelves, and the craftsmanship of the slim slatted ironwork carries out appealing see-through effects.

The upper level is compartmentalized into home office and bedrooms en suite, providing privacy and restful hideaways for residences. Massive window walls bring life closer to nature and environment.
